This was such an awesome catch up! And lots of little bits and bobs I spotted and connected with along the way.
Firstly, love the CHANI app! Have you downloaded the free 28 day breakthrough Course? I have but haven’t started it yet. I’m in the app most days and have Chani’s book in my stack to read this summer. She’s so inspiring.
The Cycles Journals, I have an online version — the postage was going to be eye watering and the UK stockists didn’t get them for 2025 — but it looks incredible IRL and I’m absolutely into cycle/emotional/body check-ins. It’s become even more essential since becoming a mum. (My eldest is 6 and my youngest is 3!).
I really enjoy looking at how other people set up and fill in their journals/planners/notebooks/all the things. I’m a fan of writing, doodling and drawing along the way too. Stickers are essential too 😃
I don’t know what a common place notebook is so I’m going to explore that some more this week and I’d also like to start a reading journal — I use Storygraph, but I want to track it in a physical and visual way too. A book can have a huge impact on me but my fibromyalgia fog can make it so hard to always remember what I need to recommend and to who.
Oh and in the video, to the right, there’s what I think is a fountain pen but it looks a little smaller. What one is that? Fountain pens and a really smooth ballpoint are my favourites. Would you/have you done a video about pens and other stationary?
Overall it was such a great video and I’m appreciative of the creative input it takes to put something like this together. So thank you. Also, thinking of you and all my American family and friends. It’s a lot right now 🙏🏻 I think any act of self care is also an act of rebellion in these times, so I hope you have plenty of joy and peace in the summer months ahead.
yes yes yes re: "any act of self care is also an act of rebellion in these times" !!
That is my Kaweco Sport in the video, it's a fountain pen but they are a little shorter than other pens (as far as I know, anyway, I really like Kawecos so I have a few of those and no other fountain pens!).
There are sooo many common place videos on Youtube so you'll definitely have some exploring to do this week. I think common placing is a nice compliment to a reading journal as a way to internalize more of what you're reading or have an easier time recalling something later.
I updated my Chani app but haven't started the breakthrough course! I want to, though. Maybe next week if I can get my life together!!
Yes, it was definitely the Kaweco, you reminded me that I’d bookmarked one. I’ve been looking up the Apricot Pearl colour. I just love the smaller size, but it was only last year - for my 40th - that I treated myself to a beautiful reusable pen from Toms Studio. I’m a fan of fountain pens, they just write so perfectly and make me happy 😊
I’ve come to the realisation today that I won’t ever have my life is order during this season of life. I think with little ones, personally, I still put pressure on myself to juggle so much and I’m just not doing it anymore…..I think it’s called quiet quitting. I’m sure I will pick up the plates to spin again, but my standards are too high and actually, I’d rather be getting messy with my kids and my sketchbook than trying to *be all the things*
